Spring Break

A full week off from school!  What to do, what to do?  Daddy was able to come home for a week.  We were busy but happy to have him with us.  First we played then we worked.  Grandma & Grandpa Cassat came to help us out with various projects.

A trip to the Zoo - our little monkeys!
The kids enjoyed playing with Grandma while the others got busy painting and other home improvement projects.  I painted our backyard shed a snazzy barn red, Grandpa painted the room I kept putting off (it had dark wood paneling), I began painting the laundry room and Greg changed out electrical outlets throughout the house.  So it's not the best way to spend spring break but the changes are amazing!

Collecting Easter Eggs

We celebrated the first of many birthdays for Emma.  She loves her bike!

We crammed a lot into this week but had a lot of fun doing it.  Thanks everyone for making a memorable week!

Emma's 4!

Hard to believe that our little girl is 4 years old now.  Time is speeding by so fast!  The past year she has graduated from Nursery to Sunbeams, loves her primary teacher (especially her long hair), loves to sing, dance, jump around & really loves her brother!  Emma has finished her first year of preschool.  Several times a day we are serendaded to "ABC", "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and reminders of what our names start with.  She is so smart.  I'm amazed at her memory and the little things (good & bad) that come out of her mouth.

For her birthday (she was so excited) she wanted a barbie cake.  Everytime we went to Target we had to make a stop at the barbie cake display.  I figured I could do the job and save $40.  It turned out better than I imagined, however, I used canned frosting to get smooth coverage and the taste wasn't so great.  Oh well.  She doesn't eat cake anyway.

 The Barbie cake!

We had several celebrations with family - daddy was in town, grandma/grandpa Cassat were in town and the Price side was around for another party.  Spoiled much?  Probably.  Just look at how happy she is for her birthday.

Getting Down to Business

Stephen, CFO of Larry H. Miller posting payroll, deposits, paying bills, etc.

In 5th grade, the kids have been learning about jobs, money, banks and what it means to be grown-up. Each student received a checking account and check book to learn about deposits and withdrawls, filled out applications for jobs and then put that learning to good use at JA City, a mock town where the kids work their jobs, deposited their paycheck, spent JA City money and had town meetings. I was able to volunteer for the day and let me say, WOW! The "city" is a full functioning city with government, bills, invoices, payroll, etc. It was so great to watch the kids become adults and help them navigate their way through a day of work. I was exhaused at the end of the day!

Next up was earning 5 Weblo pins at the last pack meeting! Stephen is on his way to earning his Arrow of Light award just in time for this 11th birthday in May. Way to go buddy!

All year long Stephen has been busy every Wednesday morning & after school on Safety Patrol. He monitors his assigned post making sure kids are safe & following rules on the playground. You might even catch him helping with crosswalks, helping kids safely across the driving paths. What a good kid!

No Cavities Club

Both kids had dentist appointments the other day and did so amazing! Of course, the ceiling mounted TV helped a bunch too! Stephen was happy no to have flouride treatments and was proud to show his new loose tooth. (I'm not sure why a tooth doctor wouldn't just pull it out!) Emma, so excited to go to the dentist (because everyone else was), sat very still in the chair as they cleaned & polished her perfect baby teeth. She even let them floss! I was so proud of her first visit. At the end of the appointment each child got a goody bag and a prize of their choice. But wait, the fun didn't stop there! They also smiled for the camera to have their photo on the "No Cavities Club" wall of fame. SMILE!

Check out those pearly whites!

Catching Up

I've been really bad about my postings. Here are a few things that have been happening around our house.

As a 5th Grader, Stephen completed all the DARE requirements and graduated from this program teaching students about drugs, alcohol, abuse, etc. It's a big deal for these 5th graders. Each graduate received a certificate from the Midvale Mayor, Detective DJ (the program instructor) and Miss Pine Valley. A surprise visit from the Jazz Bear made the whole event that much more special. We are so proud of you Stephen!

Posing with the Jazz Bear, who literally swept me off my feet!

Family Tree Colonial Project by Stephen. Each leaf represents an ancestor. What a big family!

Look at the concentration! Emma loves to cut paper & test her cutting skills. Just don't cut your hair!!!

Emma got a scooter for Christmas and is still figuring out if she likes it enough in the winter. She's got the hang of the scootering, but would do better come spring.

"UP" House

Grandma & Grandpa Cassat were able to join us this Christmas and we had a lot of fun, some down time and more fun. We took Grandma Jeanne to see Utah's "UP" house in South Jordan. It was really cool. The house looked just like the movie and when you walked in you almost expected to see Mr. Fredrickson coming down the stairs. The interior parts you see in the movie are just like the real house and then there were other rooms and closets the developers added to make it more functional. It was a great layout - you really could live there! Emma got an "Ellie" badge, but Stephen was too old for one. A perfect winter day outing.

Christmas 2011

Yes, it's almost Valentine's Day & I'm just getting around to posting Christmas photos & events. How pathetic, right? Anyway, here is a run down of our Christmas activities & the big day itself:

What is Christmas without seeing the lights on Temple Square?

Christmas Morning

Not shown: Stephen's school choir performed a christmas play but I was unsuccessful getting a good shot of him singing. I could barely see him at all! The play was darling anyway.
